Sometimes, things just come together magically! 🙂 I originally just contacted Alison for this concept – it had been a year since I’d done a fashion shoot and I was dying to do another.
We threw together her outfits the day of, pairing my black pleather leggings from Charlotte Russe with a pleather jacket from her closet, and her jeans with a black cami. About a week later, sisters Andresa & Mary Elaine approached me wanting a black & white shoot too, and I decided since all three women are Latina, it would make a great editorial even though that wasn’t the original plan! It’s just crazy that nothing we photographed is designer label, everything is from my closet or theirs. We didn’t even have a hairstylist at Alison’s shoot, and Mary Elaine did her own makeup as well as Andresa’s.
I wasn’t sure what we’d do with the images, but when I saw that Ellement’s Magazine‘s February 2016 theme was black & white, I knew exactly where to submit, though I didn’t expect it to get published since this was my first black & white studio shoot and our crew was so minimal…well, this just goes to show that sometimes you don’t need all the works, sometimes simpler is better. I am absolutely THRILLED we got 6 whole pages published in such a prestigious magazine with America’s Next Top Model’s “it” couple, Justin & Mame on the cover! <3

Some of these didn’t make the cut, and others I didn’t submit…hindsight is 20/20, I really wish I had submitted all of these, but I was trying to be sure each model got equal exposure. Oh well!! 🙂
